Giveaway Day!

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered!

I am really late to the party, but I’m finally here! I’ve got a couple items up for grabs for a knitter (or someone who wants to learn how to knit?)!

photo 1

These are both kits consisting of yarn and a pattern.

photo 2

The first kit is a set of five 1oz. skeins of Mountain Colors’ Merino Ribbon in various colors. You’ll need a 24″- or 32″-inch long US9 circular needle to complete the pattern.

photo 3

The second kit is one skein of Filatura Di Crosa’s Moda in a deep purple. You’ll need US5 needles to complete the pattern.

This is the second time I’ve participated in Sew Mama Sew’s Giveaway Day. Doing this again was on my list of 101 goals in 1001 days — so, yay! I get to cross another item off of the list!

To enter the drawing, please leave a comment (include your email address) telling me what’s at the top of your “to do” list this month.

I am happy to ship to anyone in the continental US. This giveaway will be open until May 16, 2014, at midnight (central time). I’ll determine a random winner and announce it officially after a mailing address has been secured. Good luck!

I have my to-do list that I have put off since Christmas. How can that be true?? Attending a baby shower in beginning of June , so a baby afghan is on the list. I crochet a bit, and knit knots….. seriously… my mom knits and can’t crochet. I can crochet, but my knitting turns into macramé . Perhaaaaps this is the perfect giveaway for me to successfully learn. Add an 8 hour car ride this summer, and I have no escape, but to learn…. and I’m sure it will be a fun process along the way. …hopefully!

Time has been flying! It’s crazy. Car rides are a good place to practice knit and crochet stitches – do you have a mobile phone for YouTube reference along the way? That helps, too!

Amy

Yum – what’s the flavor for the Hello Kitty cake? I love cake. 🙂

Amy

Totally – I’ve been giving my vacuums extra attention lately.

Amy

I recently tried arm knitting – and just got myself tangled in knots. 🙂 I’ll have to try again soon.

Amy

It’s never too early (or late) to think about winter, huh? 🙂

Amy

What fun!! Did you adapt a pattern to make the puppets? I bet it was a good show. 🙂

I am a pattern tester for two designers. One is a German girl (lives in NYC) and the other one is in Australia. Mostly the patterns are for purses, totes, Laptop or Tablet bags, wallets, etc. When I accept a pattern for testing, there is a deadline, and it must be completed by that date. Upon completion I submit pictures and comments/suggestions. If I had a problem, or questions, I let the designer know what areas may need additional guidance, or if the pattern didn’t go together well, sometimes changes are made to the pattern or instructions. Prior to release, a pattern may be tested by up to 25 testers. If the pattern is revised, then the revised pattern is then put out for testing. Also, if all goes well, and everyone loves the pattern we let them know that too. On the last pattern, most of the testers said that the sleeve for the tablet was too small, so the pattern was revised to be more compatible with current tablets currently on the market.

I pay for the material, notions, hardware, interfacing, etc. the end product is mine and I can keep it or sell it, or give it away. I do it because I get free patterns. The one I finished today is for the Bag of the Month Club. Obviously, this item is for a future release, I got it on May 6th. Members of the Club won’t see it for another two months. So we are allowed access to patterns that have not been released yet. I learn so much doing these projects. There is always something new, something I haven’t tried yet. This pattern was really nice and I am one of a handful of people that have it now.

I pulled an all nighter started sewing Saturday @6 AM finished it today about noon.

I’m using an umbrella I bought at a thrift store for the frame. I don’t have the talent to build one myself lol

Sarah Bozone

Yes it’s one of those crafty things that have to have time and patience dedicated to it. There’s no stopping once you’ve started! 😉 I did like how much quicker it was than typical knitting and doesn’t use as much yarn. Very easy for gifts. Good luck on your next try!
