16 months ago Ampersand was diagnosed with bladder

16 months ago Ampersand was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Recently she's been showing more discomfort, more fatigue, and more of her age - 18 years!

I brought Ampersand home, on my lap, on August 15, 2008. If I'm honest, I didn't really want a second cat because Ellipses was enough of a handful, but she was a sweetheart I couldn't resist. Her brother, Xerxes, from the same litter lives in Rochester with my friend, Bertine. But Ellipses quickly became her brother from another mother after she said some spicy words to him.

Such a princess. She was always game for a good lap sit, but really didn't want to be forced into anything. She was the best little kitty for a knitter because although she would be tempted to bite the yarn from time to time, more often than not she just wanted to test out the warmth of whatever I was making. She took some of her best naps under some of my best wool.

Former noodle inspector. One time (dead) mouse provider. Ever vigilant house centipede killer. She didn't care much for the neighborhood turkeys, but she sure could chirp her best threats at the tiny downy woodpeckers on our trees.

Our house is empty now and that sucks.
