I updated a few times from my phone this weekend, but maybe I could add some coherency to what I actually did this weekend. And, of course, there are too many photos to share with you.
So, on Friday night I finally saw the Minnesota Rollergirls in St. Paul. Aaron picked me up and we had dinner and met a handful of his friends at O’Gara’s before the bout. Barry arrived just before it was time to board the shuttle to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium.
It was a lot of fun and surprisingly easy to follow (but mostly I was just interested in what the Rollergirls were wearing — they were sassy and fashionable). I highly suggest that you attend an event if you are able! Minnesota beat North Carolina — the final score was 237 to 173, except the scoreboard couldn’t exceed 199. Hence, it looks like 37 to 173 in the photos.
After victory was had, the shuttle brought us back to O’Gara’s for the official after party. It was a little nutty, but overall pretty awesome. I already posted that I got a photo with a bunch of the Rollergirls in the bathroom. Yes, I was a little drunk but also I just so love being a groupie!
So, basically I drank a lot of Pabst Blue Ribbon and had a good ol’ time being excited and acting like a star-struck 14 year old.
On Saturday night, Kristi and I attended the kick-off party of the Sound Gallery, located in the maze-like Warehouse District of Minneapolis. About 10 bands were playing, but we went to see Plastic Chord perform. Rebecca gave us wristbands so that we could hang out in the VIP room and sit on sofas instead of standing around if we didn’t want to. The show was fun, although a little short. I guess there were other people that wanted to play.
Last night, Jen and I wanted to visit our friend, Maryanne, because her birthday is today but the festivities were not at her apartment until late, so we went to visit Jon at the Radisson. We had a shot called “Chocolate Cake” and it was super delicious. Frangelico and Absolut Citron. It was amazing.
And then I went home, ate too many tortilla chips and went to bed! Now I am counting the hours until the four-day Thanksgiving weekend. I’ll be headed to Sioux Falls for Thursday during the day, sleeping in Vermillion and spending Friday with some family. Friday night I’m sleeping at my grandparents’ farm in Iowa and headed back to Minneapolis on Saturday. The trip might be too fast, but at least there are many days off in the coming months.
